'The Lines and Squares Around Me'

Near to where I live is a natural area of grasslands. After World War 1 20-30 families lived out here, trying to dryland farm. Most only managed to exist for a few years before moving on. The evidence of their presence has slowly been erased by time, leaving only the odd small cabin and much more momentous rock piles.
